Once upon a time, my Mother made me a promise that she wouldn’t get married until the state that we lived in allowed gay marriages. In November of this year she was married to the husband of her dreams. She kept her promise. In the state of Iowa it is now legal to marry a partner of the same sex. I love you Mom. You are forever my hero.
